Psychotherapy Services
Dr. O uses evidence-based approaches to help children identify and change negative thought patterns that contribute to sadness, anxiety, or unhelpful behaviors. Your child will learn to recognize distorted thoughts (e.g., “I’m stupid,” “No one likes me”), challenge them with evidence, and replace them with more balanced, positive thoughts (e.g., “I have strengths,” “I’m good enough”).
Therapy also focuses on building healthy coping skills, like relaxation techniques, to replace unhelpful behaviors such as shutting down or outbursts. These tools empower children to feel more in control of their emotions and actions.
The goal of therapy is not to “fix” your child—they are not broken. Instead, therapy is a supportive process that helps children build skills, tap into their strengths, and better navigate life’s challenges.
Dr. O’s specialties include, but are not limited to:

Mood Disorders
Depression
Sadness in children doesn’t always mean depression, but if it’s persistent and affects daily life—like school, socializing, or family—it could be a depressive disorder. The good news: depression is treatable.
Anxiety

Behavioral Difficulties
Disruptive behavior may reflect underlying struggles such as anxiety, sadness, school issues, or difficulties with relationships. Therapy helps children identify causes and learn healthier ways to cope and behave.

Trauma
Trauma stems from frightening or unsafe experiences that threaten a child’s or a loved one’s safety. It can deeply affect a child’s sense of security, especially when trusted adults are involved.
